Killed at Anderson County Campsite, Including 1 Child
One suspect, William Hudson, 33, has been arrested and faces one murder charge with more forthcoming.
Police said the victims were visiting the area and staying in a trailer that belonged to one of those killed. The rest of their party-three adults and one 6-year-old boy-were pulled from a pond on the suspect’s sprawling property at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Taylor said at a press conference the same day.
All of the victims were members of two different families who were camping in a travel trailer belonging to one of the victims. Fox News reports that Hudson was arrested and detained by police while he was at his mother’s house that was next door to the property.
“This is the largest [homicide] I’ve seen in Anderson County”, Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor said, as CBS 19 reported.
The Johnsons’ son, Erik, is owner of Sandy River Farms in Farmington.
The sheriff said Hudson has a previous record of violent behaviour, but nothing on the scale of the six murders.
This woman also says that Hudson did have a daughter, and his parents had owned the land adjacent to the campsite where Carl and Hannah Johnson were found.
Authorities have released few details about the crime, including a possible motive or how the people were killed. The victims are all from two families and related to one another, Taylor says, but aren’t related to Hudson. Hannah moved there to be closer to them.
The Texas Rangers, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and Palestine Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
