Georgia man ran over and killed Marsha Penn Johnson outside a Walmart
A 65-year-old Georgia grandmother was repeatedly run over and killed in a Walmart parking lot by a thief who snatched her purse Monday evening.
The unfortunate incident happened in Covington on Monday at around 7:45 p.m. The victim was identified as Marsha Penn Johnson, aged 65.
Police are looking for a snatcher who ran over a woman with his vehicle near a Newton County Walmart.
“Once he got in his vehicle, her being in front of her vehicle, he took off in the vehicle trapping her in front of the auto”. “He backed out, and when he pulled forward, she ended up back underneath the auto”. Surveillance video shows the man watching Johnson as she puts away her grocery cart and heads back toward her vehicle.
After prying the purse from the woman’s hands, the mugger jumped in his vehicle and ran over Johnson three or four times before leaving the crime scene, said Captain Craig Treadwell, of the Covington Police Department. She was transported to a hospital where she later died.
The suspect was described as weighing around 200 or 250 pounds with a mustache, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. He was driving a late 1990s Honda Accord, possibly silver in color, without a visible tag. A woman was seated on the passenger seat of the Honda. The door from the driver’s side is damaged and it seems to have a temporary or out-of-state tag.
