Ronda Rousey after upset loss to Holly Holm: ‘I’ll be back’
Retired American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. didn’t have much to say regarding the shocking loss of UFC superstar “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey, simply saying that it “comes with the territory” in the fight game.
In the biggest upset in UFC history, Holly Holm knocks out Ronda Rousey in the second round.
After her defeat, Rousey thanked her fans on Instagram.
“I told her I appreciate her and the reason why any of us have this opportunity is because she’s been able to come in and make waves”. This girl’s earned it. But you don’t want that person sitting home for five, six, seven months with that championship.
“It’s not easy to deal with everything she has been dealing with”, Tarverdyan said, reports ESPN.
Right after Holm bagged the belt, many began to ask who’s next in line to fight the new champion.
“Firls were really looked down upon and now especially with Ronda Rousey breaking through all these barriers women’s MMA and women’s boxing had become a lot more popular”, said Crutchfield.
In a celebratory statement after her win, Holm told Newsweek that defeating Rousey was no easy feat and she had the proper coaching in order to prepare for her fight, which eventually led to her win against Rousey.
Not everyone was rooting for Rousey on Sunday. UFC head Dana White has said that a rematch at a few point in 2016 makes sense (especially for his bank account).
“We go back to the gym, we go back to the basics, we go back to what made her a champion in the first place which is just hard work, sacrifice, dedication and focus on being the best in the world”, he said.
However, after Holm turned the UFC bantamweight division upside down, White admitted Rousey’s loss “changes a lot of things”, noting the possible Justino bout as one of them. “Fake ass cheap shotting fake respect fake humility bitch”, Rousey captioned a video of herself getting in Holm’s face on the day of the fight, November 14.
“She didn’t shock me”.
