‘I Want Rooney And De Gea In La Liga’
La Liga president Javier Tebas has revealed that he would have liked to see Wayne Rooney play in Spain’s top flight.
Despite boasting the two best players in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Tebas wants more big names in La Liga.
“I’d like to have seen Rooney play in Spain”, self-confessed Real Madrid fan Tebas said. “I’d like to have seen a Premier League icon play in our League, but there’s also Ribery”.
Tebas perhaps shares the mentality with a number of football supporters who are often itching for the best players in the world to ply their trade in their respective leagues.
In summer 2013 both Neymar and Bale moved to Spain, while James Rodriguez soon after a sensational World Cup with Colombia in 2014.
“In light of how quickly they’ve [Neymar and James] adapted to a new environment, they’ve been a boost for the league”.
El Clasico has long attracted conspiracy theorists who claim officials are biased one way or another, and these comments don’t really do much for one of these, Jose Mourinho, who made constant assertions that the reason his Real Madrid side kept losing games was because the referees all supported Barcelona. Rooney was rumoured (via the Telegraph) to have been a £25 million target for Real in 2014, while Ribery admitted that he turned down a move to the Spanish capital five years ago in favour of staying at Bayern, as reported by Goal.
