Sharif’s pat to Asiya inappropriate
The Prime Minister had earlier called for a third party intervention into the Kashmir issue since Pakistan had not received adequate response from India.
“I am thankful to you for your Ideas and sentiments”. May Allah give me the strength to live up to the expectations that you have expressed on me and the Islamic Democratic Republic of Pakistan. According to Daily Pakistan, Sharif said this while responding to a letter by Andrabi and asserted that Pakistan would continue its moral and political support to the people of Kashmir in their struggle for right to self-determination that had been acknowledged by the United Nations.
Nawaz also had a praise for Asiya, chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of Nation) and who favours merger of J&K with Pakistan.
The letter was written by PM Nawaz on September 30, 2015, that is released by Radio Pakistan today.
They will also exchange views on regional and worldwide issues.
He said Pakistan enjoyed a status of important state in the Muslim world as well as the region besides for its role on global issues.
Asiya is a hardline separatist leader and her husband Qasim Faktoo is undergoing life imprisonment and has been in jail for over two decades.
The prime minister is accompanied by a high level delegation comprising his Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Adviser on National Security Lieutenant General (retired) Nasser Khan Janjua and Special Assistant on Aviation Shujaat Azim.
Reacting to the prime minister’s speech, hitting the PTI for sit-in and agitation, PTI Information Secretary Naeemul Haq alleged that Nawaz Sharif was continuously trying to influence the local bodies’ election. The Modi government has twice cancelled talks with Pakistan on Pakistani leaders meeting with Kashmiri separatist leaders.
