Prince cancels European tour
His Piano and a Microphone Tour was unplugged, according to his Twitter account that links to a website announcing the postponement of his Vienna gig and the entire tour.
Prince was also due to visit Denmark, Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Spain and Belgium.
Tickets for the British leg of the tour had been due to go on sale last week, but the sale was postponed indefinitely because Prince was annoyed that ticket touts were trying to sell tickets at inflated prices.
The statement said: “Due to the tragic events in Paris, ICO has made a decision to postpone the upcoming Prince European tour until further notice”.
The majority of the 129 people killed on Friday night were attacked by two gunmen at the Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Bataclan theatre.
“There is no other way to say it. This is insane and it sucks”.
Veteran English rock band Motorhead were also scheduled to perform in Paris on Sunday and have cancelled. Members of the band escaped unharmed and have returned to the United States.
“When we were growing up in Belfast, I was always saddened by the fact that groups would never come and play there because of the political situation”.
“I hope to see as many of you there as possible”.
