Derrick Rose May Have Blurred Vision For Months
Perhaps Rose is just trying to downplay the significance of his double-vision, but it’s unusual that he says he hadn’t heard the three-month timeline before.
Hopefully Rose’s vision does come back sooner than the three-month timetable Hoiberg gave.
If Rose can continue to prove he can make that shot consistently, it should allow him to get to the rim much easier.
Rose, to his credit, is playing through the double vision and is averaging 6 assists per game on the season.
“You kind of have that hope in your mind that it gets well quicker, but for this to be seven or eight (weeks) out and still the same way, I can’t do nothing but live with it”.
“But I’m loving the way that I’m working out, I’m loving the way that we’re playing”. We’re winning games, so that’s the only thing that I’m anxious about. “Floaters or layups I normally hit, but everything else will come”. Hoiberg and Rose previously had differing opinions on the pace Rose should play at, and earlier in the season Joakim Noah refuted Hoiberg’s claim that Noah had come to him and requested to come off the bench.
Until the vision comes back, Rose is more than willing to be primarily a playmaker. “I haven’t seen anything different”, Rose said.
“I’m missing a lot of shots where I normally hit”, Rose said (via ESPN) after Sunday, two days after the team’s 102-97 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.
“It’s still blurry when I look certain ways”, he said Sunday, via the Chicago Tribune’s K.C. Johnson. “But that’s part of [the recovery], I guess”.
Rose’s long-range shooting is affected with the protective gear and with one of his eyes covered. I’m getting my legs under me. I never want to go through that again, so if I’ve got to wear it the whole season, I’ll wear it. The mask, it’s not a problem. “It’s still preseason for me…I’m still warming up”.
“It’s still the same”, Rose said after the Bulls’ 96-95 win over the Indiana Pacers.
