Paris soccer stadium guards stopped ticket-holding terrorist from entering
The guard, who asked to be identified only by his first name Zouheir, said the attacker was discovered wearing an explosives vest when he was frisked at the entrance to the stadium about 15 minutes into the game.
The plan was to detonate the vests inside the stadium with the intention of causing a potentially devastating stampede amongst the 75,000 spectators inside and send them into the streets, where a third bomber was waiting to blow himself up.
The paper claims that two men approached tried to enter two of the three open gates but were refused entry as they did not have a ticket for the game.
The stadium explosion occurred while other attacks around Paris took place.
– One official described “carnage” inside the building, saying the attackers had thrown explosives at the hostages, and it was confirmed that at least 100 people were killed inside the Bataclan theatre.
“They wanted to enter the stadium but they could not”, Braillard said.
All UEFA-sanctioned matches, including the Euro 2016 playoffs, over the following days will be preceded by a minute’s silence. I feared a crowd surge, which is what happened. Gunmen fire upon people as they lay on the floor, killing execution-style, recounts one concertgoer.
While it’s not as bitter as a few of the other rivalries in worldwide soccer, one of the sport’s most entertaining rivalries is between Germany and France.
According to The Guardian, the French team chose to show its support for the German squad and also stayed in Stade de France overnight.
The drama followed events earlier in the day when the German players were evacuated from their plush hotel in the west of Paris following a bomb scare.
French elite police units storm the Bataclan more than two hours after the attackers slaughtered the concert’s patrons. “I was sad when I saw the blood on the walls”, he said, “but not when I found out it was suicide bomber”. “The players were very afraid”, he said. I think we can not guarantee the safety that is required to host such a big event.
“It is just too risky”. Among those killed during a series of attacks across the French capital on Friday night was a cousin of footballer Lassana Diarra, who was playing for France against Germany in the city at the time of the incidents. If not for an alert security guard, a number of people inside the stadium could have easily lost their lives.
