‘The Voice’ 2015 top 12 iTunes results: 3 score vote multipliers
Baber says his wife of 10 years and two young kids make up a great support system for him, especially during the insane journey of The Voice. It then cut to judge Adam Levine, frontman of Maroon 5, who commented on Sunshine’s age and how long he has been performing in a band. Vachal’s cover of the Drake tune “Hotline Bling” placed sixth on the iTunes chart.
“That’s the stuff I started with…I was a 9-year-old singing AC/DC and I was running all around the stage”, Sunshine said. He gives consistently dynamic performances that impress all of the coaches. “It’s like you graduated”, Blake told his young artist.
These are three we’re confident will advance, and we’re feeling at least decent right now about Barrett Baber (#12) and Emily Ann Roberts (#21).
Team Gwen’s Korin Bukowski, whom Stefani saved last week, was up next.
Team Gwen’s Korin Buckowski tackled “Titanium”, by David Guetta featuring Sia. She said she never would have picked this song for herself. He still needs to let his guard down a bit. His powerful vocals were impressive, leaving all four coaches with nothing but praise.
Madi Davis, from Pharrell’s team, took on “Who Will Save Your Soul” by Jewel for her performance, and the song was totally right in her wheelhouse, but she was still able to put her own spin on it. We actually got to see a more upbeat/happy side of Madi for the first time with this song and it was totally refreshing. “I didn’t know you had such a bold voice”.
Gwen’s artist, Jeffery Austin, was up next with a rendition of James Bay’s “Let It Go”, which he connected to because of the sad loss of his dad when he was just nine years old.
He brings 17-year-old Shelby Brown to tears with this observation during rehearsals, and most certainly does not get her out of her head for her performance of Jamey Johnson’s “In Color”. Even though she isn’t on the country team, Brown might be the most original country vocalist in the competition. She didn’t have a flawless performance tonight. Both Shelton and Levine praised her ability to deal with the error.
Evan McKeel sang “This is It” by Kenny Loggins. He worked the stage, and it was very clear that he was having a great time as he was singing. Pharrell pointed out that it was very obvious that he was singing from his heart. “I’m really proud of you”, his coach gushed.
Show frontrunner Jordan Smith from Adam’s team went next, and after being the highest charting singer on iTunes last week, he had a lot to live up to. It was an odd choice for Smith, who usually sings pop songs. He left the coaches struggling for words because they were so moved by the emotion behind his singing.
Zach Seabaugh closed out the night with “My Love”, showing a different side of himself and likely earning a ticket to the next round as a result.
“…Look at this guy, hitting these notes and not missing them”.
