Two Israelis and One Palestinian Killed near Hebron
A Palestinian mother mourns over the body of her son Mahmud Shalaldeh, 18, who was shot by Israeli troops during clashes the previous day in the West Bank city of al-Khalil, on November 13, 2015. The cousin was instantly shot.
The pre-dawn raid in the West Bank city of Hebron is drawing accusations that Israel had improperly used force in a building that should be insulated from military operations.
He strikingly underlined that “Israel is one of my foreign policy priorities that has expressed itself not only in words, but in deeds”. But it’s rare for their activities to be captured so vividly on camera. Others wore thick moustaches, Palestinian kaffiyehs or a long beard, typical of devout Muslims.
At one point, the bearded man shouted and pushed a bewildered hospital worker.
Eight minutes later, footage showed the agents with guns drawn leaving with someone else in the wheelchair, presumably the suspect.
“My cousin was in the bathroom and when he opened the bathroom door, and without any warning or any words, they shot at him five times”.
Meanwhile in Hebron, angry doctors and nurses, along with Palestinian Authority officials, demonstrated outside Al Ahli hospital on Thursday morning against the raid.
Obama’s public statement omitted any mention of Israeli settlements in the Israeli-occupied West Bank or Israeli brutality against Palestinians; more than 60 were killed, a few of them youngsters fighting Israeli settlers with knives.
The security forces are still “combing” the area searching for the shooter. A blood-spattered bouquet of flowers have been found contained in the death automotive, in accordance to local media. The army said the cousins are “known Hamas operatives”.
Human rights groups have slammed Israel’s use of force during the latest escalation.
According to two witnesses Amnesty has spoken to, the soldiers and police entered a room on the third floor of the hospital where 20-year-old Azzam Azmi Shalaldah was a patient, to arrest him on suspicion of stabbing an Israeli civilian on 25 October.
They entered with someone in a wheelchair pretending to be pregnant. Last month, a group of men posing as Palestinian protesters and mingling with rock-throwers in the West Bank were filmed drawing their weapons and arresting a protester.
The city is a frontline of the conflict, with 500 Jewish settlers living under military protection in the centre of a city of 200,000 Palestinians.
The rest died in clashes with Israeli security forces in the West Bank. He added that an Islamic Red Crescent refused to treat the dying Jewish victims, “as if they were dogs and not people”.
Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon praised Thursday’s raid.
London Mayor Boris Johnson dismissed the call to boycott, arguing Israel is the only functioning democracy in the Middle East.
Amnesty worldwide said that the killing of the 28-year-old Palestinian may amount to an “extrajudicial execution”, according to Maan News. Israel’s military said hundreds of Palestinians threw rocks and rolled burning tires at soldiers stationed near Hebron who deployed “low calibre fire” at “the main instigators”.
“It should be emphasized that the security system will not allow the existence of places of refuge for terror activists wherever they are”, warned Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency.
