Under scrutiny Umar Akmal denies wrongdoing
The cricketer had allegedly misbehaved with a few women during the function, according to a ARY correspondent.
Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal is likely to get a reprimand and be allowed to join the Pakistan national Twenty20 squad for the series against England.
The latest scandal to have overtaken Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal has seen allegations of sexual harrasment lodged against him by a model named Rachel Khan, who is reported to have slapped Akmal after he misbehaved with her during the “Play for Peace” event in Norway earlier this year.
The PCB has also served a show cause notice to the 25-year-old batsman whose career has been chequered with disciplinary problems. “I attended a dinner party after being granted official permission by my team manager”, he said in his response to the PCB notice.
Basit Ali, who is the Chairman of the national junior selection committee, also met with PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan in Lahore and briefed him about the entire incident.
Umar has been suddenly dropped from the team after the allegations of wrongdoing even though he was selected on priority basis.
“I am not answerable to anyone apart from the department I am playing for”, he told reporters.
Pakistani cricketer Umar Akmal has now been seeing worst days of his life as he is being dragged into several controversies at the same time.
Indications that Umar will eventually be cleared and allowed to join the Pakistan T20 squad have come with statements from captain Shahid Afridi that if he was innocent he should be included in the team for the England series.
The T20Is will be played in Dubai (November 26 and 27) and Sharjah (November 30).
