Donald Trump Threatens Starbucks ‘Boycott’ Over Holiday Red Cups
Amid the Starbucks red cup controversy, the company did not regret its design. “Give the customers a cup crammed so full of Christmas, they’ll be picking tinsel out of their Yule log for months”. “They used one small group’s opinion about the cups and began attributing it to the greater Christian community”.
How pro-Christmas coffee cups can be became an issue last week when a little-known Christian video blogger turned a squabble over Starbucks’ holiday cup design into a national war on Christmas kerfuffle.
“We believe this conveys the happiness and spirit of the holiday season in a way that resonates with our guests”, Scott Hudler, a Dunkin’ executive, said in a statement. “We have anchored the design with the classic Starbucks holiday red that is bright and exciting”, he added.
Starbucks Coffee launched into holiday mode Tuesday, with stores around the country turning on Christmas play lists, bringing out the company’s Christmas Blend coffee, and stocking shelves with brand new winter- and Christmas-inspired gifts.
Starbucks is on the receiving end of Donald Trump’s latest rant and it’s all down to the design of a cup.
Fox News reports said a few customers suspect that Dunkin’ Donuts is taking a jab at Starbucks.
The Christmas coffee cup controversy continues to brew. “I think it would be nice if somebody put “Merry Christmas” on something, you know, like the old days, right?”
Jeffrey Fields, the company’s vice president of design and content, explained this year’s design as a “more open way to usher in the holidays”. A few customers are telling Starbucks baristas their name is “Merry Christmas” just to have the words written on the cup. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has suggested people to boycott the company.
It’s unclear if Dunkin’ Donuts is trying to send a message amid the current coffee cup drama, but the Internet is certainly viewing it that way.
