Xavi’s opinion of Louis van Gaal changed dramatically after poor first impression
He’ll always be in my heart, Louis van Gaal, ‘ Xavi said.
Despite the claims, Rojo has been a regular fixture in the United first team this season and has made one assist in five Premier League games so far this term.
Van Gaal has faced his fair-share of criticism in the bar, and in the British media, but he’s starting to prove his point as he pushes for domestic glory and assembles a squad that can challenge now, as well as looking extremely promising for the future.
So when it came to his assessment of Van Gaal, Xavi pulled no punches with a frank but fair recounting of his experiences under the Dutchman at Barcelona.
Marcos Rojo has dismissed reports of a hard relationship between himself and Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
The Reds boss gave Xavi his Barca debut in 1998 and he went on to become an eight-times La Liga champions with the Catalan giants as well as winning the Champions League four times. He’s very demanding, he’s strict and he wants to achieve the highest levels possible.
Xavi also talked about the former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho who served as a translator to Sir Bobby Robson at Barcelona.
Rojo defended Van Gaal’s ruthless management style that has seen the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach clash with a number of players in the past.
Less pressure in the Premier League?
Rojo didn’t help himself by failing to disclose a hamstring injury he had suffered, and did not play in any of United’s first seven games of the season, appearing in just two of the first 13.
He said, “Rubbish. He was the assistant coach, someone who understood the philosophy of Barca and who shared numerous same characteristics of Van Gaal”.
‘He was very respected by the players.
