Sweden-Denmark playoff to go ahead despite attacks
Sweden face Denmark in the play offs over the next week – with the first leg on Saturday in Stockholm – and speaking at a press conference ahead of the game he gave a typical Zlatan answer to a question about his chances of making the tournament next summer, according to the Guardian.
The crowd had barely taken their seats at the start of the second period when Forsberg was upended by Thomas Kahlenberg after a surging run into the box and Sweden captain Ibrahimovic thundered home the resulting spot kick.
“I would love to play at the European Championship in France”, the Paris St Germain forward told reporters.
If there’s one player whose personality in his interviews can sometimes overshadow his greatness on the pitch, it is the indomitable, larger than life, Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who recently said that he’s the one who put France on the map.
This is a great clash and one where I see the big names coming to the fore and I wouldn’t be surprised if he were to score a brace.
The 34-year-old continued: “I don’t think they will be my last games for Sweden – my age is not telling me to stop. But I still feel strong”.
He said: “I have better statistics than before”.
“So if I’m old and getting weak and still doing what I do, imagine if I was good and young, what I would do then”.
Sweden take on Denmark in the first-leg of their play-off on Saturday with the return leg in Copenhagen on November 17. But confidence is something he is not lacking in, judging from his latest comments.
There is a lack of genuine quality amongst the Danish ranks, and they will be hoping for a virtuoso performance from Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen to fight their corner.
