Stewart elected to sit out the next three Sprint Cup series races. Logano’s win at New Hampshire in the 2014 Chase was the Middletown, Conn. native’s second win at what he considers his “home track”, with the first coming in the rain-shortened 2009 Sylvania 300. The good news is, Stewart has had success at the upcoming tracks on the Cup schedule.
Most likely to win the championship: Harvick. Stewart, 44, has made 59 starts since his last race win, on June 2, 2013, at Dover worldwide Speedway. “I’m at a truly happy place in my life right now”. It’s been a disappointing year up to this point. “It just seems like everywhere we go, we seem to fight the same balance”. We’re trying a ton of things and we can’t seem to find anything that really moves the needle, or something that makes significant change.
“I don’t think it’s any secret to anybody that we’re struggling, ” Stewart said Tuesday during a teleconference.
NASCAR announced today that it will utilize single-car qualifying for the Pure Michigan 400. After two seasons of off-track distractions, the co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing had confidence on his side as he headed to Daytona. “It’s just a big Martinsville, and I feel like we get around there pretty well”.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to turn my NASCAR driving career into another career doing something else I love; that’s working with FOX Sports on television”. So, you know, I’m holding him and the team back versus vice versa. “So it’s just a matter of me trying to figure it out, figure out how to go forward and get our cars better”. “I don’t care if it takes one week or if it takes six weeks to get there, the main thing is just getting there”.
“With the way this format is all it takes is one good race for us to get in, top 30 in the points”, he said. Busch has won two of the past three races this season after missing 11 with a broken leg and foot. That’s your reason to keep fighting every week and show up at the track with the same attitude you did the week before.
Stewart said he has been impressed with Kyle Busch’s stunning return to the Cup series.
Most likely to make the Final Four: Harvick, Truex, Johnson, Kurt Busch.
“If you do get a day turned around, I’m not talking about a pit strategy or something like that that gives you a win”. I think it’s great. As long as Harvick starts each of the remaining races he will be in the chase. But if he doesn’t, with two victories already, how can NASCAR exclude him from the Chase? All that cost comes out of our pockets. “NASCAR is about spending time with your family and friends”.
“I think all of the owners will do whatever’s in the best interest of making it better”.
“Loudon has always been a good place for me, going back to the K&N days”, Wallace said.
But a mention of Stewart’s 10-year run as owner of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, northwest of Dayton, lit a fire. If the open-wheel series can not attract decent crowds there, it is in serious trouble. “That’s to go out there and win the race and get the year going”.
The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup weekend at Chicagoland Speedway is September 18 to 20 and starts with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race under the lights on Friday night.

New Hampshire serves as a special place for Logano. He scored his lone win at NHMS in September 2006 and last fall finished third in the Sylvania 300 behind Joey Logano and Kyle Larson. Ryan Newman has set the qualifying pace seven times at the track.
