Trudeau pledges active role in terror fight
Trudeau says his government will follow through on its election campaign commitment to withdraw fighter jets from the coalition flying missions against targets in Iraq and Syria.
Mr. Trudeau told Canadian reporters Canada would still have a “serious military role” in the Middle East and in the fight against ISIS, but with a focus on training local troops.
Mr. Trudeau declined Monday to offer a timetable on the end to Canada’s bombing mission.
Trudeau said no other leader has told him to keep the CF-18s in place.
At the same time, the countries were at opposite ends of the diplomatic talks over what climate-change pledges would be made at the G-20, ahead of the upcoming Paris climate summit.

Walls says he would like Trudeau to re-evaluate the 25,000 goal and how the government plans to achieve it.

“The G20 communique has a few strong language on climate change”, he said.
But in the wake of last week’s deadly attacks in Paris, which were claimed by Islamic State militants, even politicians who initially backed the Trudeau plan say he should push back the deadline to ensure all the refugees are properly scanned. Prior to the Trudeau meeting, Fabius defended France’s decision to launch retaliatory air strikes on ISIL in Raqqa, Syria.
He said the French response was a “political” one and that France had to be “present and active” following Friday’s violence, which left 129 people dead.
Trudeau, who last month won an election fought partly on security and the refugee issue, on Sunday said “Canada is pleased to be stepping up” to take in the refugees and will integrate them into the country.
Trudeau also held bilateral meetings Monday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.
He described a brief conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom his predecessor Stephen Harper refused to engage.
Jokowi highlighted the importance of forging “stronger cooperation between Indonesia and Canada”, while Trudeau said Canada was open for better friendship and business ties with Indonesia, which has the largest economy in Southeast Asia and is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world.
