Simon Cowell changed by fatherhood
The affair, between Cowell and Lauren Silverman – who is now his partner, and had previously been the wife of Cowell’s best friend Andrew Silverman – apparently dates all the way back to 2009, and it of course resulted in the birth of Simon’s son, Eric, who is now nearly two years old.
“The way I look at it with One Direction is that we’ve had five fantastic years and they’re totally exhausted”, Cowell told dailymail.co.uk’s Event magazine.
Reliving the moment he discovered he was going to be a father for the first time, Simon described how he was called out of a meeting to an “urgent call” from his girlfriend.
In 2013 their lives changed after Lauren announced she was pregnant. He said he felt a responsibility to them since they are in their 20s and needed help navigating the negative side of the music business, and cited the dark side of being in a band as what pushed Malik to part ways with the group.
Cowell went on to reveal to how close he was to the One Direction members. We make each other laugh.
“Everyone jumped in. They could have really turned the screw on me if they’d wanted to but they didn’t waver for a second, they stuck with me because we have a relationship”. He has been teaching his son manners; to share and say “thank you” and “please”. “Whatever he has he offers it to me”, Cowell said, according to an article on NZHerald.
Cowell also was open about his mother Julie’s recent death, admitting he refused to accept that she only had a short time left to live: ‘I wouldn’t listen. “And I wasn’t prepared for it. You know it all happened in my 50s”.
“I’m not proud of the circumstances, I can’t hold my head up about it.”
He had a son and then he suddenly lost his mother.
