Andy Dalton Is Not Impressed With J.J. Watt’s Christmas Joke
Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt (99) sacks Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton (14) in the second half of an NFL football game in Cincinnati, Monday, November 16, 2015.
-LB Rey Maualuga was active for Monday’s game after being out last week with a calf injury he sustained in the first quarter November 1 at Pittsburgh.
Sure, they held the Tennessee Titans without a touchdown, but the Titans were missing their starting quarterback and had struggled offensively anyway.
Yep. It was that ugly.
“That’s what good teams do”, said defensive tackle Domata Peko.
“He wasn’t functioning correctly as to how we know he would usually function calling a play, receiving the play in, trying to communicate it to the offense”, O’Brien said.
It was a odd night in many ways.
The Texans were all over Dalton again on Monday night. The Bengals sold 61,381 tickets, leaving roughly 4,000 empty seats at Paul Brown Stadium.
For the season, Eifert has 40 catches for 460 yards and nine touchdowns.
After Eifert dropped a third-down pass, Nugent’s 39-yard field goal put the Bengals ahead 6-3.
The game’s lone touchdown came on a T.J. Yates to DeAndre Hopkins hookup from 22 yards out. They haven’t even come close.
Dalton was 22-of-38 for 197 yards and one interception.
Dalton was sacked three times and hurried often. The Bengals poor performance in nighttime games is well known and it has resulted in very early exits in the playoffs in the past. I felt that same vibe from everybody.
-RUSHING OFFENSE: D. The Texans rushed for just 82 yards on 25 carries, a 3.3 average, with a long run of 15 yards. Dalton only completed 12 passes for 81 yards to his tight ends and running backs. They are the only team this season to allow 10 points or less in three consecutive games. It’s becoming a trend.
“They f– won a game”, Jones said.
“This game doesn’t define our season”, Dalton said. “This is a team in the locker room right now that understands what they’re capable of doing, but we’ve got to do it every week”. It doesn’t define anything. Green’s incredible, but he’s made mistakes like this in the past and these types of mistakes are what have gotten the Bengals kicked out of the playoffs the past four years.
That the Texans had a bye week heading into this game absolutely helped.
New England (9-0) has the best record and potentially the top seed in the AFC.
The biggest problem is the Bengals looked tentative to take shots deep down the field against the Texans – something they’ve excelled at so far this season. The Bengals dared Watt to make a play-and he was only able to make one.
We got through the first half of the season without having to do a “Goat of the Week” post, which is definitely a good thing.
