Texas Police Arrest Campsite Killings Suspect
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said they went to the property and found Carl and Hannah Johnson dead in the trailer.
William Hudson, 33, is charged with one homicide rely and was being held Monday on $2.5 million bond.
The suspect in the case was identified by police as William Hudson, who investigators said owns property near the site where the bodies were found. The victims were members of two families. There was reportedly one female survivor. Nevertheless, it was reported that the bodies of a man along with a girl were located inside a trailer and four other bodies, all male, were located in a closeby pond on Hudson’s property.
“Nothing can describe the pain and suffering the remaining family members feel”, Woodruff said.
Carl’s wife Cynthia reportedly survived the following killings and told police, though authorities have not yet released how or why they think Hudson murdered the campers.
The victims’ names won’t be released until the autopsies are complete, possibly by Thursday, Taylor said.
Carl and Cynthia Johnson were employees of the University of ME at Farmington and retired to Texas.
It sounds like the plot of horror film: family from out-of-town buys land in the country, then finds out – fatally – that a very risky someone thinks the property really belongs to him.
Police say the suspect had helped pull a truck out of the mud and spoke with the family earlier in the evening on Saturday before returning later. The daughter and her son lived with Karp and his sons in the Dallas suburb of Midlothian.
Details for this story were provided by the Anderson County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office and the Palestine, Texas, Herald-Press.
Woodruff said he could not comment on the ongoing investigation, but called the killings “a disgusting tragedy”.
Hudson is charged with one count of murder, and more are pending.
Hudson was investigated for an assault charge within the last few weeks and is not cooperating with the current investigators, according to KLTV.
