Sam Bradford suffers concussion, injures
But he’s the only option the Eagles have heading into Sunday against the Buccaneers after Sam Bradford sustained a concussion and shoulder injury.
Bradford suffered a concussion and a shoulder injury during Philadelphia’s Week 10 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Early in the fourth quarter the Eagles announced that Bradford’s X-rays had come back negative. Everything was clicking. And in the first quarter, no less! The Eagles were driving for a potential game-winning field goal when Sanchez fumbled with 53 seconds remaining.
After more than two months of grumbling from fans and half-hearted support from teammates, Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford seemed to settle into a groove. But last week they were quick to criticize Malcolm Jenkins, and by extension themselves, after the safety elected not to self-report concussion symptoms during a victory in Dallas.
Bradford’s injury history over the course of his career has been well documented.
Basically that’s what Chip Kelly said at his day-after news conference Monday.
“I don’t know if it would have been a touchdown, but I probably would have had a decent gain”, he said. “It’ll be decided on Sunday, but I’m expecting to play right. But I don’t have anything else besides that”.
In what was merely 20 minutes, Sanchez aptly displayed exactly who he is – someone who can thrive, and struggle, in this Eagles’ offense.
It’s worth noting that Rapoport was off last week on his initial diagnosis of linebacker Jordan Hicks’ injury, originally reporting that the rookie would only miss two to four weeks. He showed more mobility than Bradford and scrambled away to avoid the rush better.
The 28-year-old has started each of the Eagles nine games thus far in 2015 after being acquired by the club in the offseason.
Replacing him in the loss to the Dolphins was quarterback Mark Sanchez, who had 14 completions for 156 yards and one interception. But he threw that crushing interception with 4:32 to play.
“We have confidence in Mark Sanchez”, said coach Chip Kelly, whose team somehow remains a half-game out of first place in the NFC East with a 4-5 record, but still has a tough three-game stretch against the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals coming up, as well as division games against the NY Giants and Washington.
Control the ball, own the clock, win the game. “You have to be ready to go every week”. So I don’t know.
“When you get in games like this and its a dog fight, your impact players, you need them to step up and make plays and ours did today….I’m proud of the way they fought”, said Campbell.
In their absence, young players filled in capably during Miami’s 20-19 win Sunday at Philadelphia.
The Dolphins – let’s be honest, Miami isn’t immune to silliness – gave the ball back to Philadelphia with 1:40 to play, nearly daring Sanchez to win the game for the Eagles with the Dolphins leading by one. “And I think that, as somebody who controls the offensive line, when the offensive line seems me as a composed individual not making mistakes that they feel more comfortable”.
When Suh was asked about his recent surge he said it’s about “understanding the way people want to block me and just attacking and playing off our guys up front”. “I am in charge of the job just like anybody else, whether you get the reps in practice or not”.
