LeBron James see Cavs falling behind Warriors
Two nights after a poor game in a disappointing 12-point loss at the woeful Lakers, he played a masterful floor game Tuesday night in the Detroit Pistons’ 104-99 comeback victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“In fact, when we were having the in-bounds late, we talked about taking him out”, Van Gundy said.
LeBron James was the Cavaliers’ MVP, scoring 23 of his 30 points in the first half, and passing Jerry West on the all-time scoring list. We have the ability to be a great team, but right now, we’re not a very good team.
Both teams started off the season particularly well, but it was expected of the Cavaliers more than the Pistons. We’re not entitled to a win, we’re not entitled to being Eastern Conference champions. That’s last year. It’s a totally different year. “Until we figure that out, we’re going to continue to put ourselves in positions to lose basketball games”. In his front office duties in Detroit, Van Gundy has been granted a wide financial berth by owner Tom Gores-one of those unicorn billionaires who’s eager to spend money on a sports team to make a community happier-in order to fast-track the Pistons back to relevance. The Cavs shot 7-for-19 (36.8 percent) in the fourth quarter, with five turnovers.
“Our guys did a pretty good job of staying in front of him”, Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said.
Van Gundy credited Jackson for sparking the comeback, as Detroit finished the game on a 14-4 run.
The Pistons can hang in this game with their defense and rebounding, but they don’t have enough horses offensively for the Cavs.
He takes mostly post-ups and jump shots, so worn out legs are an integral part of his game. He came to a simple conclusion.
“I think they’re better”, Cleveland coach David Blatt said. “Be better for my teammates”. And tonight, I knew the game was on the line.
Detroit plays at Minnesota on Friday night.
Detroit also got major contributions from Ersan Ilyasova (20 points with four 3-pointers), Marcus Morris (14 points) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (13 points). J.R. Smith then missed a contested 3-pointer from near the top of the key.
The Pistons and Drummond agreed to not sign an extension before the November 2nd deadline in order to preserve cap space for the 2016 season. “They’re involving Kevin Love a lot more”, he said. Reggie Jackson has blossomed as well, and what appeared to be a streak of hubris when he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder-from which he demanded a trade away from the shadow of Russell Westbrook-is now one of the game’s most righteous portraits of cockiness. The Cavaliers took the final three of four meetings with the Pistons last season.2.
