HBO Now goes live on Android, Amazon devices
As a recap, HBO NOW allows you to subscribe to HBO without needing to also have a regular cable subscription. Sorry Fire Phone users – no support for you. Internationally, HBO branded television networks, along with the subscription video-on-demand products HBO On Demand and HBO GO, bring HBO services to over 60 countries.
HBO Now, HBO’s standalone streaming service, is available today for iOS and Apple TV owners, as well as Optimum Online customers.
Today, Home Box Office is adding Android and Amazon devices to its internet only service, HBO NOW, providing audiences with instant access to all of HBO-addictive series, unforgettable movies, thought-provoking documentaries, thrilling sports programs and entertaining comedy and music specials.
With HBO Now no longer exclusive to Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV after its April 7 launch, Android users can now catch up on HBO content like Game of Thrones or True Detective on-the-go.
The price hasn’t changed-HBO Now is $15/month, and thanks to the newly released apps you can sign up and stream on any Android phone or tablet, or Amazon Fire tablet.
As a side note, Amazon took the opportunity to provide an update on the Fire TV ecosystem this morning, noting that, during the past five months, it’s added over 700 new channels, apps, and games for Fire TV, and its Amazon Appstore now has over 300,000 apps that work on its Fire tablets.
