Suspect Sought In Casino Garage Stabbing

MGM Resorts global announced that they plan to impede Connecticut’s plans for a third tribal operated casino.

HARTFORD, Connecticut – Slot machine bets and revenue increased at Connecticut’s two tribal casinos in June, showing unusual strength in a long decline. Dan Malloy, the Connecticut Governor, already signed a bill in June to permit the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes to speak with municipalities regarding their third casino project.

Bloomberg took note of the obvious, that the dispute “illustrates the competitive strain” on the casino business as more states consider the legalization of casinos in some form.

The Pequots operate the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, while the Mohegans own the Mohegan Sun in nearby Uncasville.

Hornbuckle, in an interview with Bloomberg, said his company would seek to block the joint Foxwoods-Mohegan Sun venture, though did not specify how MGM would do so. They are requesting permission from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to open the facility in 2018.

Connecticut’s two casinos, among the largest in the nation, have lost business with the expansion of gambling in New York and other states.

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the person who stabbed someone at Mohegan Sun early Wednesday morning.
