Tennis Star Andy Murray Gives His Bangs A Trim During A Match
Andy Murray seemed bothered by his luscious curls during his match against Rafael Nadal at the ATP World Tour Final in London, so during a changeover he took actions into his own hands and gave himself a quick little haircut.
Rafael Nadal has shown he was getting back to his best as he crushed Andy Murray at the World Tour Finals with an impressive 6-4 6-1 victory.
Two-time grand slam champion Murray can still qualify for the last four of the season-ending tournament and be assured of closing 2015 ranked second if he beats Stan Wawrinka in his final Group Ilie Nastase match.
Rushing through points and spraying 35 unforced errors, world number four Wawrinka, who lost an epic semi-final here a year ago to Roger Federer, collapsed to a 6-3 6-2 defeat.
Nadal creamed a forehand victor to bring up three set points at 4-5 and needed just one as he ran Murray ragged before winning the point with a deft volley. But I didn’t really help myself.
Nadal settled down and found good range on his serve after the shaky opening game, limiting Murray’s ability to step into the court.
“I had a few hair in my eye, and I just wanted to get rid of it”, he said. We as an organisation have worked hard to support the Aegon GB Davis Cup Team, with the staging of three fantastic home ties throughout the year, and we couldn’t be prouder that they have reached the final. Was the hair incident a sign that Murray was distracted by next week’s Davis Cup (there were signs that the hacks were clutching at straws here)? That doesn’t mean I’m going to play well in every match.
“I think I played well”.
Isner jumped out into a 5-2 lead in the tie-break before Ferrer pulled back, but it was the American who levelled the set scores against all the odds.
“I think I played well more or less the whole match”, said Nadal, who maintained a focused gameplan and spent a lot of time at or inside the baseline on Wednesday. I played aggressive, I played without many mistakes.
“I’m obviously disappointed with the way the match finished today”.
One lapse, when he was broken to love in the first game of the second set, was quickly corrected as he broke back twice to beat Ferrer for the 12th time in 18 meetings. “That’s not good enough against someone as good as Rafa”.
Wawrinka faced a set point in the opener but went on to take seven consecutive games to turn the contest around before eventually running out a 7-5 6-2 victor. It would be another drop shot that sealed the break and the set, 6-4.
