Steven Adams records season-high in loss to Grizzlies
Now all eyes will be on the Grizzlies as they take on the Oklahoma City Thunder, a team that’s tied for 22nd in the league in opponents points allowed at 104.1 points per game. He made a decision to double down on that performance in his second trip to Oklahoma City.
Smart, who also had to guard Oklahoma’s Russell Westbrook, was still able to shoot 9 of 14 from the field and haul in eight rebounds. Here’s the first possession with Marcus Smart taking away the middle of the court, Jared Sullinger dropping back into coverage, and Amir Johnson, Jae Crowder, and Isaiah Thomas playing a little free safety.
“That’s the type of guy that Russ is”, Smart told reporters. “He loves challenges and he’s gonna try to do his best every time, and vice versa with me”, Smart said. Vice versa with me. “You put two guys like that going against each other and, obviously, we’re going to knock heads”.
“Not intimated at all”.
Westbrook got to Smart early.
Westbrook had posted triple-doubles in his previous two games but finished this one with just five assists and four rebounds. “Eighty-two games, I do this”. “I do this. Don’t get it twisted”. Coach Donovan will continue to preach that it’s ok to make that extra pass. He mentioned last night that his squad may have settled for shots too soon instead passing it on for a better shot, we’ll see if the team can make that extra effort in the tough Grind House. Avery Bradley returned from injury to score 14 points off the bench. The eight-time all-star ranks second in the league in offensive rebounds per game (4.8), and his 12.7 rebounds per contest trails only Detroit’s Andre Drummond (19.0) and Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan (12.9) in the National Basketball Association. Serge Ibaka had 18 and Enes Kanter scored 16.
The Boston Celtics went on a 25-6 run in the second half to come from behind and beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 100-85 on Sunday, November 15 at Chesapeake Arena in Oklahoma City. Boston shot 48 percent and outrebounded the Thunder 47-34.
The Celtics may lack a star, but on Sunday night, their defense on Russell Westbrook showed that they’re capable of stopping one. The Thunder rallied, however, with Westbrook hitting a 3-pointer with 1:02 left to cut the lead to three at 111-108. “This is the gym he always shoots it well in, right?”
While Smart was attacking the basket, Westbrook was doing his damage from the perimeter. Kyle Singler started his first game of the season in Roberson’s spot.Rookie Cameron Payne is from Memphis and played high school ball at Lausanne, the same school that Grizzlies Marc Gasol attended.
“We got back into the game at the end of the third”, Stevens said.
“Darren Tillis, 23rd overall, 1982 – The 6’11”, 215-pound big man’s Celtics career was over nearly as soon as it began, as he was traded to the Cavaliers for Scott Wedman, who played key roles in the playoffs from 1984-86. Sucks how much rebounding we give up, but whateverMemphis went 12/17 from three…that’s 71%.
Smart set an aggressive defensive tone from the start and never really let up.
