Houston Texans Sign Brandon Weeden; Season Officially Saved!
The Houston Texans reportedly claimed quarterback Brandon Weeden off waivers, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Weeden was claimed by the Texans off waivers Wednesday afternoon, one day after he was released by the Cowboys.
Despite struggling to start the season, the Texans are still alive in a much maligned AFC South. The Texans came away with a huge win on the road Monday night, when they defeated the then undefeated Cincinnati Bengals and showed that they have a few fight still left in them.
Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins also missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury but is expected to play Sunday.
There is hope that Hoyer will be able to play this week, as head coach Bill O’Brien has not ruled his starting quarterback out for this weekend’s game, according to National Football League reporter Conor Orr. If Hoyer is out, the Texans could have elevated Zac Dysert from the practice squad to back up Yates.
Weeden never lived up to the expectations that surrounded him when the Cleveland Browns took him in the first round of the 2012 draft.
The Cowboys cut Weeden, 32, on Tuesday to make room for starter Tony Romo on the active roster upon return from injury.
