Texas coach Charlie Strong on Miami speculation: ‘It’s all a rumor’
Strong has said Texas is the best job in college football, but as Feldman noted on FS1, that may not mean he thinks it is the best situation for him and his family. “That’s why I came here”. We still have a ways to go.
Strong acknowledged frustration with repeated speculation. Additionally, he said he still feels wanted at Texas despite two six-loss seasons in his first two years.
Fenves and Perrin, who both took office within the past six months, have consistently expressed their full support for Strong and his rebuilding efforts.
Strong also discussed the injuries the Longhorns are dealing with. And while the Longhorns have won two contests since over Kansas State and Kansas, they’ve faltered in winnable Big 12 showdowns against Iowa State and West Virginia. D’Onta Foreman is slated to undergo surgery on his injured finger on Thursday, and it is still unclear how surgery will affect his ability to carry the ball. “Everyone else – we have a few bumps and bruises – but everyone else is out there practicing”.
Running back Johnathan Gray (foot) and Patrick Vahe (knee) are still day-to-day. Texas is 10-13 under Strong and, at 4-6 with games against Texas Tech and No. 10 Baylor left, at risk of not going to a bowl game for just the third time in 22 years. However, he’s confident in the team’s depth to fill in. “We have options there at that position”.
