Mitsubishi Mirage Restyled, More Powerful, Still Cheap
Its styling update marks a big improvement over the old Mirage.
The Mirage is one of the work’s most affordable cars, and it should still sell for around $12,000 when it return in 2017.
The second product is the even milder revision of the 2016 Outlander Sport.
Fog lights are now surrounded by black plastic, which blends into the lower air intake and gives the Mirage a wider, more stylish appearance.
For the Mirage hatch, there’s a new grille design inspired by the related sedan model (known overseas as the Attrage), along with refreshed headlight internals that include new Nissan-like LED daytime lights.
The updates look better in the interior with the addition of new fabrics for the seats, a new steering wheel, gauge cluster and shift panel with a 300-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system with EcoPunch. Other key factors that stood out for us are its Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, 10-year warranty, new exterior design, enhanced interior, and improved performance. This is the first time those systems will be offered by Mitsubishi in the U.S.
You will be able to get the Outlander Sport with the base inline-four 2.0-liter engine rated at 148 bhp (110 kW) and 145 lb-ft (196 Nm) or with the larger 2.4-liter developing 168 bhp (125 kW) and 167 lb-ft (226 Nm). Two-wheel drive models ship with a five-speed manual transmission, and models ordered with all-wheel drive gain a CVT.
Front brake discs grow in size, as do rear drums, and the brake pad/shoe material is changed to improve stopping distance. Retuned suspension and a stiffer chassis is also on store.
Outlander Sport comes equipped with Mitsubishi’s exemplary safety standards including seven air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) comprised of dual front air bags, dual front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, dual side-impact curtain air bags, and a driver’s knee air bag; 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist; a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS); and Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control Logic (TCL).
