Miss Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) reveals Evoque Convertible
Constructed over a period of three days, the 3.4 metre-high miniature crossing started out with wooden abutments as a support foundation, to hold a total of 54,390 sheets of paper in place.
The challenge was carried out to celebrate 45 years of the Range Rover, with the six millionth model sold heading to China.
At launch, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible will be offered with two engines across Europe. The 4×4 SUV is built in Solihull alongside the Land Rover Defender. In 1989 it was first 4×4 to be fitted with ABS anti-lock brakes and introduced both Electronic Traction Control and electronic air suspension to the sector in 1992.
The latest fourth-generation model was the first all-aluminium SUV when it debuted in 2012.
Chris Zhou, Land Rover Experience chief instructor, then had the job of successfully driving the £100,000 SUV across.
All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) allows drivers to concentrate purely on steering the vehicle when negotiating hard or slippery terrain by maintaining a set speed ranging from 1mph to 19mph without any pedal inputs.
“When the Range Rover Evoque Convertible was first shown as a concept (in 2012), the response was overwhelmingly positive”, said Gerry McGovern, head of design for Land Rover, referring to the concept shown at the 2012 Geneva auto show. Including the villain’s C-X75 concept, there are also a bunch of modified Defenders along with a Range Rover Sport SVR created by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering.
