Passengers removed from flight after seat dispute in TX
Several passengers were removed from a Houston-bound Southwest Airlines plane in Chicago Wednesday after refusing to follow crew instructions, the airline tells Eyewitness News.
The passengers were removed from Southwest Flight 126 from Chicago to Houston.
The flight was originally supposed to take off at 10:25 a.m. from Chicago’s Midway Airport. Southwest says the passengers were rebooked for a later flight.
Rocca said the early-morning flight was about half-full.
According to the spokesman, the plane was taxi-ing when a woman alerted airplane staff to the man’s “suspicious” behavior then grabbed her daughter and ran to the back of the plane. He said he did not know whether they chose to continue their journey.
‘Being in her shoes, I’m guessing that combined with what she saw or heard created a few concerns for her, ‘ Green said.
Passengers said the woman and three men appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent and that security officials who came aboard said there was a “credible security threat”, ABC reported. “Our job is to respond to his request to remove the four individuals, and we took them to the station, interviewed all four of them, and we felt there was no indication of any criminal activity or violations”.
The government source said a female passenger who appeared to be Muslim was watching a video on her phone that another passenger thought was from Islamic State.
“These passengers were inconvenienced and forced to endure humiliating treatment and invasive questioning for no apparent substantial reason other than because their perceived ethnicity caused alarm in a fellow passenger”. “It’s not the American way, but it’s understandable why they’re doing it, I guess”, said John Schipkoski, a passenger on the fight.
