NC Gov on Refugees: ‘My #1 Responsibility Is Protecting Citizens’
McCrory said at a Monday, November 16 press conference in Charlotte that North Carolina has already received 59 Syrian refugees but that who or where they are is a mystery. They will be structured so residents and officers will have time to interact in small groups before Deck-Brown addresses the entire gathering.
The Catholic Diocese of Charlotte says it will continue to welcome Syrian refugees to Charlotte despite Governor McCrory’s efforts to block them from coming in.

Bissette said there was no requirement that the votes be done in an open meeting.
Bissette the board will be working on expanding transparency in its activities.

They include people like the Al Haj Kasem family, who fled Syria after the bakery where Hussein, the father, worked was ransacked in the fighting. That still didn’t sit well with Berger and Sen. In North Carolina, an Uber driver reports being beaten and threatened by a passenger who used anti-Muslim slurs. This contrasts with policies that have envisioned as few as four local management entities. Still, Sen. Fletcher Hartsell of Concord said he wants Brajer to reconsider the pause.
“So, in other words, nobody can tell me whether the state is being consulted about whether it’s appropriate for these people to be settled in our state”, asked Sen.
The House is set to vote on the legislation Thursday.
The indictment alleges the ex-manager improperly took $250,000 for personal use.
