Detroit Pistons RUMORS: Stanley Johnson Not Ready For More Minutes?
“He was below his average”.
In the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 104-99 defeat at the hands of the surging Detroit Pistons, the man they call “King James” passed another great, Jerry West, for 19th in the league’s all-time scoring list.
With a raucous 18,442 packed into the Palace – legitimate numbers, no papering of the house here – it was turn back the clock night and the Pistons played like a team that knew how to get the mission accomplished. That’s what I continue to say: We’re not entitled to a win. Recently, James has complained that his team isn’t hungry enough to win a title.
The Pistons and Drummond agreed to not sign an extension before the November 2nd deadline in order to preserve cap space for the 2016 season.
The King only needed ten points to overtake West. The Cleveland star started early, as a three-point conversion in the first period with 2:55 left nailed him the spot.
They were two games into a grueling Western Conference road trip and just outscored the Portland Trail Blazers 41-11 in the fourth quarter. We don’t pay attention to details as much.
The results so far have been staggering.
The game came down to the wire, and Drummond was forced to hit a few crucial free throws to help his team maintain their lead.
Drummond had 25 points and 18 rebounds against Cleveland, and he’s already had three 20-20 games this season. He’s threatening to run away with the league’s rebounding race. While losing to the Los Angeles Clippers is understandable, the Los Angeles Lakers are a whole different story.
“I thought he did a really good job”, Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said. “He’s six rebounds ahead of the next guy”. It would seem like Stanley Johnson would be in line for more time because of how worn down Morris is but Van Gundy does not think he is ready yet, according to Rod Beard of The Detroit News.
Nelson scored all 16 of his points in the last 14:10, helping Denver secure its fourth victory in five games. After getting a maximum, $80-million contract from Detroit this summer, Jackson has played like a top-ten point guard. Reggie Jackson posted 23 points with 12 assists and six boards as Detroit snapped a four-game losing streak. “He just couldn’t have a much better game”. Then they beat Cleveland. “We need to get tougher, but I’m not talking about being an iron man. You have to be mentally tough, and that means performing at the best of your abilities at all times”. I think that’s held him back to a certain extent.
The Pistons haven’t made the playoffs since 2009, and ending that drought would be a significant step forward.
“We’re too relaxed and too nice”, James said. We lost. We lost in the Finals.
“Eleven games for anybody is quick, but with all the success they had previous year, I was pretty surprised”, Van Gundy said.
