Jay Gruden would ‘like to keep’ Kirk Cousins in Washington
Head coach Jay Gruden spoke about Cousins and his strong play to the Washington Post, saying that Cousins is “a guy we’d like to keep around” and there is a chance he could get a contract extension into next season. Kirk Cousins had an outstanding performance throwing the ball for the Redskins, completing 20 of 25 passes for 324 yards and four TDs.
Earlier Monday, Payton wasn’t ready to deal with the apparently premature news of Ryan’s dismissal and said he would meet with general manager Mickey Loomis prior to doing something like dismissing Ryan. And while the Panthers sport one of the best defensive units in the NFL, I believe that Washington is capable of moving the football against them. It’s not the same Seahawks team, but I still give them credit.
-While they have given up yards and touchdowns at an alarming rate, the Saints’ defense can’t get a break with injuries.
The 4-5 Buccaneers kept their slim playoff hopes alive by eking out a narrow 10-6 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, but they have lost three straight to the Eagles, both SU and ATS. And then, you know, a bad Titans team.
-In the Saints’ terrible loss on Sunday, Saints running back Tim Hightower had something to smile about. But that doesn’t mean RG3, who was benched before the season, won’t play a critical role in preparing his teammates for the game: he’s serving as Newton in practice as the Redskins’ scout team quarterback. He was signed by the Saints in the spring and initially made the team on the final cut, only to be released after the first game. “It’s the same game – doesn’t make any sense to me”.
A few may have seen this season as a washout for the Washington Redskins, but it has been anything but.
-LB Ramon Humber (hamstring) missed his second game in a row, but may be ready for the first game after the bye on November 29. “Now, we still just have to go out and finish the last seven games”. “Most of the league is average to below-average”. The confident quarterback’s 366 rushing yards and six touchdowns are tops among the position, though he’s been more unsafe with his arm in the past two wins. Had 9 tackles in last game vs. Was.
While Kirk Cousins probably has a move or two or his won, it’s not likely on par with Newton’s Superman, Aaron Rodgers’ putting on the championship belt/discount double-check, or even the bicep kissing of the benched Colin Kaepernick. The Saints did sack him three times, but that was about the only thing they could be happy about. Jackson has just five catches for 59 yards in the last two games and he has not been a reliable fantasy option this year. The secondary of the Redskins will be looking to shut down the weak passing attack of the Panthers, which ranks 28th in the league with an average of 213 passing yards per game. On the ground, Alfred Morris rushed for 104 yards in 15 attempts while Matt Jones added 56 yards in 11 rushes.
