In a market where wholesale prices are falling, that is potentially an advantage to Origin Energy, which has a greater proportion of its power fleet in more “flexible” generation, such as gas-fired generators, that can cope with the variations in wind and solar output.

According to the plan, Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) will shortly call for bids from developers for buying 2,000 MW, a government official said, requesting anonymity.

To address these obstacles, the US Department of Energy has launched the National Community Solar Partnership as a means of expanding access to community and shared solar power for low- and middle-income communities.
