Kentucky signs 6 in latest top-flight recruiting class
Kentucky basketball has had an awesome last two days; yesterday the Wildcats scored a commitment from High Point Christian Academy (High Point, N.C.) forward Edrice Adebayo, who is ranked No. 6 overall in the ESPN 100, and last night they knocked off sworn enemy Duke, 74-63, in the Champions Classic in Chicago.
Kentucky has landed one of its top recruiting classes with the signing of six highly rated prospects, including four ranked top-10 nationally.
“When you know, you know”, Malik Monk said via text message. I want to thank Ron Crawford and everyone in the Arkansas Wings organization for their support.
It was a devastating loss to Arkansas because Monk’s brother played both football and basketball for the Razorbacks.
“With so many great coaches and historical programs recruiting me, it has really been a tough but fun process”. Five-star forward Wenyen Gabriel and four-star forward Sacha Killeya-Jones are also headed to Rupp Arena.
For a second consecutive day, John Calipari and the Kenctucky Wildcats have landed a commitment from a top 10 prospect in the Class of 2016.
After all of this, Kentucky has the number one class in the country after signing 5 of the top 29 players in the country.
Terming it “the toughest decision of my life”, Monk announced, “I will be continuing my maturation as a student-athlete at the University of Kentucky”. He broke the school’s single-game scoring record with a 47-point performance against St. Louis Chaminade Prep in the season opener in Tiger Arena a year ago, then broke it again in January when he scored 50 points against Chino Hills, Calif., in the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions in Springfield, Mo.
