Apple CEO Says iPad And MacBook Won’t Merge Into One Device

With the said size of the iPad Pro, it comes as no surprise that its Retina display reaches 2732 x 208 as well as 5.6 million pixels.

But we shouldn’t take Tim Cook’s comments at face value, given Apple’s track record for bashing a product category before entering a sector with guns blazing.

The quote in question reads: “I think if you’re looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore?” Cook told The Telegraph in an interview.

In Tim Cook’s view, the Surface Book is sort of diluted without any real identity either as a tablet or as a notebook. Apple, in a rather consumer-unfriendly move, chose to sell the SmartKeyboard and Pencil accessories a la carte, instead of bundling them in with the tablet.

The iPad Pro has a lot going for it, so I’m not at all surprised that there are folks out there that want to pick one up.

“Not in the next five years”, Jean Philippe Bouchard, research director of tablets for IDC, told NBC News.

Yesterday, Apple launched a new iPad. Though the keyboards are different, Apple has clearly emulated Microsoft’s basic idea here, down to the inclusion of a special keyboard connector on the edge of the device.

Even worse is how long you’ll need to wait if you order an Apple Pencil stylus or the Smart Keyboard accessory.

The release of Apple’s iPad Pro is a move by the company to hopefully resuscitate its flailing sales in the tablet market. That isn’t the case with what is available in the App Store right now. It boasts more power than nearly anything else on sale – including Apple’s MacBook Pro, something Microsoft is keen to boast about – but its display can also be detached from the keyboard base to form a standalone “clipboard”. Like smartphones, smartwatches and smart TVs, tablets are all about consuming content.
