Friday night’s attacks in the French capital saw 129 killed by at least eight attackers, seven of who died on the night.
Both she and Abaaoud were killed as heavily armed SWAT teams raided the apartment in Saint-Denis early Wednesday, prosecutors said.
Wednesday’s raid was launched after a discarded mobile phone and tapped telephone conversations led police to a safe house less than a mile from the Stade de France where one of the attacks last weekend took place.
Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said Abaaoud was not arrested, and the dead suspects have not been identified. “But we know and bear in mind that there is also a risk of chemical or bacteriological weapons”, Valls said according a translation by the Daily Telegraph.
Valls’ statement comes on the same day on which Belgian police staged six raids on Thursday in the Brussels area linked to a suicide bomber who blew himself up outside the French national stadium last week during the Paris attacks, prosecutors said.
French authorities have announced that Islamic State attack planner Abdelhamid Abaaoud is dead.
The sting in Brussels was under way as Belgium’s Prime Minister, Charles Michel, made a speech unveiling a package of new anti-terror measures following the Paris attacks.
Fabius, speaking on France-Inter radio, said the group “is a monster”. Police fired 5,000 rounds of ammunition during the raid, which began at 4:20 a.m. Abaaoud and the other suspects had reinforced the door of the apartment where they were hiding and returned fire. Authorities identified the woman as Hasna Aitboulahcen, a French-Moroccan national, believed to be Abaaoud’s cousin.
The security bill will not only extend the state of emergency, but allow authorities to put anyone deemed a public threat under house arrest, prevent suspects from communicating with one another and allow police to carry out searches at any time without judge approval if the public is believed endangered.
France requested a meeting of European interior and justice ministers Friday in Brussels to discuss the fight against terrorism. “This represents the most serious terrorist threat faced in Europe for 10 years”.
French President Francois Hollande was going to Washington and Moscow next week to push for a stronger global coalition against IS. But two US officials said that many, though not all, of those identified were on the U.S.no-fly list.
