IS militant killed on Turkey-Syria border: Army
USA secretary of state John Kerry said on Tuesday the United States is starting an operation with Turkey to finish securing the northern Syrian border, an area that ISIS militants have used as a lucrative smuggling route.
“Don’t hold your breath: Russia-U.S. anti-terror alliance is not in the making”, Dmitry Trenin, a former colonel in the Russian army and director of the Carnegie Moscow Center, said on Twitter on Wednesday.
Kerry arrived in Paris on Monday to pay respects to victims of Friday’s militant attacks that killed 129 people.
Sinirlioglu did not expand on what the operation would entail but the Hurriyet daily quoted security sources as saying is would involve clearing an area from Mare to Jarablus in northern Syria of IS militants.
“Out of this event in Paris will come an even greater level of vigilance and cooperation in a few places that may have been a little bit less concerned about things hitting them in certain parts of the world”, Kerry said. “We’re looking to do more, we’re looking for every opportunity we can to get in there and go at ISIS, but we need others to get in the game as well”, Mr Carter said.
Kerry, who confirmed French President Francois Hollande would travel to Washington next week to meet U.S. President Barack Obama, was speaking in Paris after a meeting with Hollande.
With Hollande, Kerry said the civilized world must boost its efforts to combat the Islamic State by going after the group at its core. “So the faster Russian Federation and Iran give life to this process, the faster the violence can taper down and we can isolate Daesh (Islamic State) and al Nusra and begin to do what our strategy has always set out to do”.

“There’s something different about what happened from Charlie Hebdo, and I think everybody would feel that”, Kerry said, noting there was “a sort of particularized focus” and “rationale” behind that attack.
