Eli Manning on Peyton’s foot injury: ‘He’ll be fine’

A 22-20 win at Baltimore has Jacksonville (3-6) only one game behind Indianapolis in the AFC South and the Colts won’t have Andrew Luck for a while.

Fox and several members of his staff know Osweiler about as well as any opponent after working with him from 2012-14. The most historic meeting between these two teams was on December 11, 2011, when Tim Tebow led the Broncos back from a 10-0 fourth-quarter deficit to a 13-10 overtime win.

Truth be told, that group should include the Bears. If you for a few odd reason like putting stock in preseason statistics, Osweiler completed 44 of 68 passes for 484 yards, three touchdowns and an interception this year.

“He can throw the ball deep”. Not only to train, but a just-in-case option because at the time Manning’s return from spinal fusion surgery was not the slam dunk it became.

Odd as it sounds, a resurgent Bears defense stood a better chance against one of the league’s all-time greats than it will against a guy who has 305 passing yards in four NFL seasons. But considering the other news about Manning’s injuries that’s come out this week, there are a lot of ways in which this doesn’t add up.

Osweiler admits that he might not know what the Bears’ defense will dial up, but the Bears also can’t be certain what Kubiak will craft for Osweiler, either.

Brock Osweiler showed promise during his junior year at Arizona State in which he threw for over 4,000 yards, 26 touchdowns, and achieved a passer rating of 140.5.

Ready or not, the apprenticeship appears to be over. Especially if the team gets into the playoffs and gets beat down-when everyone will ask if Peyton’s playoff experience would have been more beneficial, no matter who had the hot hand.

“You’ll see an athletic guy with a big arm, probably pretty similar to Joe Flacco if you’re trying to draw a comparison”. However, coming off of one of his worst games as an National Football League quarterback, Peyton Manning is reported to have sustained a Plantar Fasciitis tear in his left foot. “And you know how that turned out”.

Um, yes we do, Coach. He did not move from a poor situation in San Francisco to not play in Denver.

Fun fact: Rick Dennison, the Denver Broncos’ offensive coordinator, was born in Kalispell. Tight Ends are always a boom-or-bust position unless you own Rob Gronkowski, and Miller certainly boomed this week with his #1 ranking for fantasy TEs.

Fangio was on the 49ers’ side when the Bears treated Kaepernick like Steve Young reborn. If people are using Osweiler’s name as a verb by Sunday night, something has gone terribly wrong. It’s probably not going to happen, as Bucky Brooks over at NFL.com noted in a recent piece, Osweiler has progressively gotten better each preseason since being drafted. He has missed three games due to the injury but was also able to practice last week on a limited basis before being ruled out for the game. “At the end of the day, it’s just a football game”.

Once Osweiler is forced to throw, the Bears secondary can continue improvement that has been overstated.

Especially with Osweiler replacing Manning, hard as that is to fathom.

“There’s a book on every player in the league, ” coach John Fox said of Osweiler. “Obviously, his book’s not real thick because there hasn’t been a lot of playing time”.
