Homicide Suspect Barricaded In Standoff With Oakland Police
Police late Thursday were working to capture a homicide suspect barricaded in an Oakland Motel 6. Authorities say the body is believed to be 18-year-old Jason Brown, who they say was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.
Brown is considered armed and unsafe.
Police on scene in East Oakland about 3 a.m. Friday heard multiple gunshots from a motel room before going inside to find the suspect dead. The second victim is still in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital and has been identified as Ulizes Benitez, 22, also of Turlock.
The Oakland Police Department has not officially identified the suspect who was found deceased, according to police spokeswoman Johnna Watson. Police evacuated a portion of the motel and were trying to talk the suspect into surrendering. Unconfirmed reports says the suspect could be 18 year old Jason Brown, wanted for recent Fresno murder case. Albert Thao was killed and another man was wounded by gunfire as they were eating in the MeKhong Restaurant, Farrah said.
Livermore detectives obtained a no-bail warrant for Brown’s arrest for one count of murder and one count of attempted murder soon after the CVS shooting.
