The National Basketball Association has sold out of Kristaps Porzingis’ Knicks jerseys
Through 12 games Porzingis is averaging 12.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game for a Knicks team that is looking to bounce back into the Eastern Conference playoff picture. However, Silver called the unusual name of Kristaps Porzingis, a 7’3 big man from Latvia.
Kristaps Porzingis has become an early season favorite for rookie of the year and is already making an incredible contribution to the Knicks organization at the age of 20.
“Social media is going insane”, said Porzingis, who had 74,500 followers as of Friday morning. Those are respectable statistics for a rookie that wasn’t even supposed to make an impact this season. “I wasn’t expecting it to be right now”, Porzingis said. “… It’s just the beginning for me”. I’m focused, not flying. “Head coach Derek Fisher said “[Porzingis] wants to work, he wants to get better, he wants to be here in NY City and part of what we’re doing. At 243 pounds, Porzingis knows his limitations in the paint, but he reiterated on Thursday that he won’t be intimidated by anyone. “I’ve heard this fifteen times….well, we have it”, said Windhorst on the air Wednesday. Not to mention the draft took place in NY City and the Knicks possessed the 4th overall pick after coming off of a 17-65 campaign.
Unfortunately, for those waiting to get their hands on one, though, the demand has been so high on his jerseys that the National Basketball Association has officially sold out. I know I am not alone when I admit that a LeBron James vs. Carmelo Anthony series would be one for the ages. “One night like tonight and then in a couple of weeks maybe there will be another night like tonight, but you could see he’s getting more comfortable each game”.
There is one thing Craig is not interested in doing while Porzingis is the topic, and that is compare him to players from days gone by, namely Patrick Ewing, and he made that much crystal clear. Of course, having a potential star in Porzingis would only help their pitch.
