Bing iPhone App Now Available
Sporting a new look and feel, and now available in the Apple App Store, the latest version of Microsoft’s Bing app for iPhone (v.6) comes a step closer to serving as a search-based hub for mobile experiences. The app was recently approved by Apple and Android stores and will be officially launched on November 24 by live stream and available for free download. It’s nice that Google is trying to unify the look between operating systems but not everyone is thrilled with the looks of the new app. The desktop version of Google+ is also getting a drastic overhaul and you can read the full overview with critiques we posted yesterday. You just use the unified search and using deep links, Bing brings you content as search results from across all apps on your device. You need to type their name in its entirety now in order to MAYBE get their account to pop up among the 5000 others of a similar name.
Speaking of the iPhone, it’s worth mentioning here that the app is only compatible with Apple’s smartphone and features no native support for the iPad.
Apple appears to be working on an iOS app that will provide customers with easy access to Apple support staff, troubleshooting tips, and fix options for their iPhones, iPads, and other Apple devices.
However, Bing has a history of not being up to the mark and it remains to be seen if the app is as successful as it is made to be.
This is one reason hybrid app development is so attractive: It allows you to build iOS and Android apps simultaneously instead of having to write code twice using each platform’s native language. The app does most of the work on its own.
Knowing what your apps are up to is more important than ever.
