5-year-old Batman saves toddler trapped inside hot vehicle
Batman-loving 5-year-old Zavi Ahmed got his chance to be a real-life superhero Tuesday in Uckfield, East Sussex, England, when he stepped in for police and freed a child accidentally locked in her grandparents’ vehicle in a grocery store parking lot.
Iris became trapped when the doors mysteriously locked with the keys inside while her grandmother Caroline Penny packed away the shopping.
They called Sussex Police who tried to break into the cream beetle and eventually resorted to smashing the back window on Tuesday afternoon.
So they broke a rear window, but as it was a small opening and to far from the front seat, where the keys were, it did no good.
Zavi, who was with two-year-old brother Nadeen dressed as Superman, sprang into action and volunteered to squeeze through the tiny back window to retrieve the keys.
“We called the police and they tried everything and eventually smashed the back window”. He climbed in and unlocked the doors to set the girl free.
Iris’ grandfather John Penny told reporters “it really was a case of Batman to the rescue”. “My friend jokingly said, ‘He can be a superhero at [the supermarket] Tesco, ‘ and we couldn’t believe it when he actually was!”
Looks like Batman’s protecting more than Gotham these days. “He said, ‘I’m only little, I can do it.'” And “Batman” got the job done all right.
Alas, Iris was saved – courtesy of the unbelievable Batman. Then these two little boys turned up – one was dressed as Batman and the other as Superman, they had the whole outfits and were so sweet.
Zavi then crawled through the window and got the keys, freeing the toddler.
Police say Iris was trapped in the auto for approximately 45 minutes.
How does Zavi feel about pulling off an actual act of heroism?
