Oliseh will not qualify Nigeria for 2018 World Cup, says Westerhof
The Celtic defender scored the second goal three minutes from time to seal a 2-0 win for Nigeria over Swaziland on Tuesday in a Russian Federation 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier to advance to group stage of the qualifiers. The Super Eagles won 2-0 in Nigeria but is it not a game the Super Eagles should be winning 6-0, 7-0 under normal circumstances?
However, Westerhof who handed Oliseh his national team debut has spoken out against the coach, saying he had not seen any real changes in all of Oliseh’s matches in charge of the Super Eagles.
“Congratulations, you beat Swaziland 2-0 in the return leg match of the preliminary round of the qualifiers”, Westerhof told Nigerians.
Efe Ambrose’s “striker’s” goal in the 87th minute off a free kick by Igbonu will then put the game beyond a resolute Swaziland side, who must certainly be proud of what they produced against the more illustrious hosts even without their inspirational skipper Tony Tsabedze. “What type of football do they play in Swaziland?”
“Oliseh’s record as Nigeria coach in competitive matches is near ideal as he is yet to lose a single game since taking over from Stephen Keshi in July”.
As expected visiting Swaziland sat back in their defence, but Nigeria failed to break their resistance in the first 45 minutes or were very poor in their finishing.
“This will help me in the national team and I hope to play for the Super Eagles for many, many years”, he said.
