Florida State and Chattanooga each gave the same goals for Saturday’s game – get out of it in one piece since the stakes are bigger next week. While they struggled from 3-point range, the Seminoles allowed Hofstra to connect on 10 of 22 (45%) from downtown, including 6-8 for Pride sharpshooter Brian Bernardi.
While traditional Florida State fans may not prefer the black alternates-or any alternates for that matter-they are incredibly popular both with current players and visiting recruits.
Hofstra’s 2-3 zone defense kept Florida State from breaking out in transition but the Seminoles eventually found their perimeter shots.
Morgan led Tulane (2-1) with 26 points, and Leslie Vorpahl had 11 points and eight rebounds. Kolby Morgan’s jumper brought the Green Wave to 66-62 with 3:51 remaining, but Florida State scored eight straight points to take control. With a dearth of guards, Brittany Brown played all 40 minutes at the point for the Seminoles. The Seminoles are the only team in FBS who have not allowed an opponent to score 25 points or more in a game this season.
Now, the crew over at FSU blog Tomahawk Nation is reporting that the Seminoles will be wearing the black uniforms for their final home game of the season. They have also won 17 straight home openers.
