My night with virtual reality — Samsung Gear VR

Aside from games, the Gear VR can take advantage of a number of mainstream media, including popular movies such as The Martian.

The Gear VR will need to be paired with a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge or Galaxy S6 Edge+.

For those who have been waiting to put hands on the new Gear VR headset, the innovators edition was the only option until today, when the consumer version of Oculus’ collaboration with Samsung is finally available for purchase.

The $99 device, which is compatible with all of Samsung’s 2015 flagship handsets, is now officially on sale after pre-orders opened earlier this month. This means that the virtual reality experience will be made for more than just one person at a time.

If you don’t have any one of those four phones, you won’t be able to use Gear VR.

Along with the Oculus Store app which can be found upon loading up the device, Oculus Concepts is also available as a new way to discover upcoming content. In both cases, the experience left me with a headache.

The one thing I didn’t like was how cut off from the real world I was.

The user goes on to add that a rep, on Friday morning, confirmed that didn’t have any of the units in stock at the Amazon warehouse, but should ship them today if they get them in.

Even though virtual reality (especially mobile virtual reality) has its limits, the Gear VR has been enthusiastically received.

Oculus believes that mobile virtual reality is ultimately the future and, their first collaboration is a deliberate attempt to begin charting a roadmap away from cumbersome PCs and troublesome wires, to a device that will transport your mind and once you’re done pass it around to your friends wherever you might be. The Gear VR can also be paired with SteelSeries Stratus XL for Windows + Android(sold separately) to provide a further gaming experience. Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg spoke in a Facebook post about the VR device’s lunch, calling it “a historic day for virtual reality”.
