Ben Carson Compares Screening Syrian Refugees to Rabid Dogs
“This is the type of thing that they do”.
Since the deadly terror attacks unfolded last week in Paris, other Republican candidates have ramped up their call for greater scrutiny of refugees entering the country and have lambasted President Obama’s plan to take in as many as 10,000 refugees over the next year.
Dozens of Democrats joined majority Republicans in the House to pass the measure on Thursday. Ted Cruz, have even proposed that only Christian Syrians should be granted asylum in the U.S.
“It’s foolish for us to accept people if we don’t have the appropriate amount of screening”, Carson said.
Ben Carson raised the specter of a few Syrian refugees as dogs on Wednesday, while Donald Trump would not rule out such measures as warrantless searches and special identity requirements for Muslim Americans.
Williams said he wasn’t hurt or surprised by the remarks, adding that there’s no rift between himself and Carson or the official campaign.
Williams, who is African-American and a leading strategist behind the Carson political machine, must have approved Carson’s weird rap-song radio ad. Though Carson and his fans tout his lack of interest in race as his most attractive quality, they clearly are not above shameless pandering to try to woo black voters.
“We have an American culture, and we have things that we base our values and principles on”. There are those that want to give away all that for political correctness.
Carson also said the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001 “didn’t require a great deal of sophistication”. “You have to get those credits in order to be recertified”, he said in a PBS “NewsHour” interview Tuesday night. “Absolutely”, Trump said. “There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases”, he added when asked how such a religious watch-list might work.
Carson’s spoke a few days after some people in and around his campaign offered public concerns about his command of foreign policy.
Carson’s comments came a day after he compared the process for vetting Syrian refugees to handling a “rabid dog”.
Armstrong Williams, Carson’s longtime business manager, “has nothing to do with my campaign”, Carson said.
Carson later praised the House for passing a bill that could limit the intake of Syrian refugees, calling it a positive step.
