Barbershop shooting victim identified
The victim of a shooting that occurred Saturday at a southeast Calgary barbershop has been identified.
30-year-old Khaled El-Ajami was gunned down while at the Jonny Scissorhands barbershop on 20th Avenue SE last Saturday evening.
The suspect had a brief conversation with the customer inside the shop, before pulling out a gun and shooting him.
It’s believed the killer fled in a silver SUV. “We’re continuing to review CCTV video and confirm investigative information”.
El-Ajami, who was known to police, was declared dead at the scene.
Police said they knew the victim, and believe he was targeted because of an ongoing gang dispute over drugs. In this case there were over 60 people in the immediate area of the strip mall.
El-Ajami’s killing is Calgary’s 29th confirmed homicide of 2015 and the city’s 13th shooting death this year.
