Nexus 6 Android 6.0 Marshmallow: T-Mobile Commences Rollout
Google has announced that it will be bringing the Android Marshmallow update to Android Wear devices soon, the company has said that the updated will be released in the coming months.
Regardless, Cyanogen stands by its commitment to offer the necessary updates which were earlier rumored be coming out as early as next month (December) though this pertained to the CyanogenMod 13 based on Android 6.0 and not the commercial version Cyanogen OS 13.
The update has been approved, according to Des Smith, and should reach Nexus 6 terminals soon.
With the rollout expected by the first quarter of 2016, an Android 6.0 Marshmallow will reportedly be hitting the OnePlus 2 as well. It was only recently that the device is getting the Marshmallow update; now the update would fix the camera issues in the device, dealing with probably the only drawback that prevented it from being a complete victor among flagships previous year.
The owners of Asus’ devices are hoping that there is more to expect from this update, aside from the features that Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings. This was a critical part of the update, which was the cause of the delay. And because T-Mo’s Nexus 6 needs a special build for Wi-Fi calling and band 12, any T-Mobile customers using a Nexus 6 can’t just flash the builds on Google’s Nexus factory image site. Because of that, the carrier had to get a new build of Android Marshmallow, tailor it to the Nexus 6, and then go through the testing process again. Similar to other manufacturers, there will most likely be unique features that only Asus smartphones will have once the users update them to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The comparison above is a great place to start in order to know exactly what’s new.
T-Mobile stated the update could arrive “soon” so no exact date has been given.
Moreover, Google India has reported that the company is rolling out he update in phases and the Indian smartphone users will have to wait a little bit more.
