Christie focuses on Clinton in undercard debate
“I want to fire everybody in D.C.”, Jindal said.
Jindal’s response was that “records matter”, dinging Christie for expanding food stamps and accepting Medicaid expansion with funding from the Affordable Care Act. Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry saw his fundraising essentially disappear after he was relegated to an undercard debate earlier in the year. “They care about who’s going to beat Hillary Clinton, who’s going to keep their eye on the ball”.
Christie also made an appeal to law enforcement officers, saying he would support them more than President Obama had in the roiling debate over police shootings and police brutality.
And while Jindal Tuesday night referred to Christie as a “big government Republican”, Christie said that the fact is, he’s also worked with Democrats, including reducing spending by $2 billion and cutting his state’s workforce by 15 percent and reducing business taxes by $2.3 billion.
Christie said he would fight back against cyberwarfare waged by China, and would fly over the islands being built by the country in the South China Sea so “they’ll know we mean business”.
According to My Tech Bits, the undercard candidates may mostly agree on issues, but that did not stop a face-off between Jindal and Huckabee. Mr. Jindal lashed out at Mr. Christie and Mr. Huckabee for not living up to the budget-slashing ideals of a real fiscal conservative.
Thanks to bad poll numbers, Mr. Christie was knocked off the main stage tonight. “Because mom will lose welfare benefits”, he said.
Jindal and Christie have a long-running feud stemming from a 2012 contest between the two to lead the Republican Governors Association.
“I felt really good about how it went last night”, Christie said on “Fox and Friends”.
Christie responded, to laughter in the audience, “If you go to New Jersey, they’ll call me lots of different things – a liberal’s not one of them”. If “you want someone who can win Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania as a conservative, I’m your guy”, Santorum said. “She is the real adversary”, Christie said.
“If you think Mike Huckabee won’t be the kind of president to cut back spending, or Chris Christie, or John Kasich, wait until you see what Hillary Clinton will do to this country and how she will drown us in debt”.
Kevin McArdle has covered the State House for New Jersey 101.5 news since 2002. “We’ve had World War II veterans’ children saying they’d never heard the stories of their parent’s heroic sacrifices”, Jindal bemoans. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). “People jump to conclusions about guilt and innocence, and we shouldn’t be doing those things”.
A video published by The Huffington Post that shows him talking about the pain of losing a friend to drug addiction had just gone viral and had been viewed more than 7.6 million times as of Sunday evening.
“Their causes and the toilets get flushed at the same time”, Jindal said, referring to USA senators.
